Italian-owned ISP Tiscali has revealed plans to deploy its own DSL infrastructure in Germany. It is aiming to install 60 nodes in the Frankfurt region by the end of 2005, and is targeting 50% coverage of the country’s population within three years. It has also announced plans to offer voice telephony services in the future, possibly through a tie-up with Telefónica or MCI. Analysts expect the total number of DSL connections in Germany to reach 14 million in the next few years, up from a current estimate of 7 million.
