Hip Telecom, a newcomer to the Brazilian fixed line market, has officially launched voice over IP (VoIP) services, claiming to offer calls at rates of 70% cheaper than other fixed line operators. The company has invested USD30 million in its operations and plans to target SMEs and residential customers in Sao Paulo state. The service will cost BRL49.90 – BRL199.90 a month.
In a separate story, mobile operator Amazonia Celular has revealed plans to launch a loyalty program for its subscribers in north Brazil, in a bid to strengthen customer loyalty. Amazonia Celular has around 1.3 million subscribers.
