Malta fails to implement EU rules

11 Jul 2005

Malta has been named and shamed by the EU over its failure to properly implement the EU rules on telecommunications. It claims that the country has failed to properly liberalise its telecoms markets, with the lack of number portability and poor directory services being cited. Other EU countries, including France and Poland, have also been reprimanded, and threatened with legal action.

In a separate matter, Maltese telco Maltacom has announced two new offers to customers, one offering cheaper VoIP rates and one offering reduced rates and zero rental for its internet phone service IPhone.
