Government to spend AUD50 million on broadband

The Australian government has said it will invest a further AUD50 million on broadband networks in regional Australia. The country is currently embarking on the ‘Higher Bandwidth Incentive Scheme’, and has connected almost two million broadband customers in the country, taking penetration to 19% in regional Australia and 21% in metropolitan areas. With the extra investment, funding for the project stands at around AUD160 million.
