Canadian telco Convergia has announced that it will launch fixed line telephony services in the Chilean capital Santiago before the end of this year. It was recently awarded a licence to operate wireline networks by the country’s regulator Subtel, and has signed a bandwidth leasing agreement with carrier-of-carriers Global Crossing and a contract with Chinese equipment supplier Huawei to deploy its own fixed infrastructure in the city.
