According to reports in the local press, Telecom Italia (TI) is unlikely to sell its stake in Brazilian fixed line operator Brasil Telecom (BrT), contradicting reports published last week. The operator itself has not commented on the matter.
Meanwhile regulator Anatel has announced plans to postpone its proposal to introduce a ‘bill and keep’ plan under which mobile operators pay for the use of other cellco’s networks. The process was expected to begin in July but the regulator has failed to reach any agreement with mobile operators over the interconnection rates. Under the current legislation, interconnection costs between wireless operators are only due when traffic percentage in either direction is above 55%.
