Paraguayan cellco Telecel says it will invest USD20.7 million in expanding its GSM and EDGE services this year, according to BNamericas. Telecel, a subsidiary of Millicom International Cellular, launched its GSM network under the brand name Tigo last year. The operator says the latest expansion will triple network capacity and see the introduction of a raft of new multimedia services. Tigo’s chairman Angel Auad says that more than 20% of the operator’s revenues are generated from non-voice services, which he claims is a record for a Latin American cellco.
