The Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) has been awarded a 3G licence by the country’s industry regulator, the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC). STC has agreed to pay SAR753.7 million (USD200.9 million) for the concession which will enable it to expand its service network in an increasingly competitive market. A spokesman for the CITC said the body expected STC to begin offering 3G services to the public within the next 18 months.
