State-controlled incumbent operator Qatar Telecom (Q-Tel) has announced that it will pay a 36.5% dividend to its shareholders following the release of its 1H05 financials later this month. The generous interim payout is the result of a ‘strong performance’ in the first six months of the year, and follows twelve months of impressive growth in 2004 when the company saw turnover reach QAR2.35 billion (USD650 million), up 16% on 2003, whilst overall profits rose by 27% to QAR1.48 billion.
