WiLL auction back on track

4 Jul 2005

Chilean regulator Subtel has announced the relaunch of an auction to sell 13 wireless in the local loop (WiLL) licences. The auction was delayed following appeals by local operator Entel, which wanted to participate in the bidding despite already holding 100MHz of WiLL spectrum, the maximum amount permitted for one company. Its appeals were turned down by the anti-monopoly commission and the Supreme Court, and the front-runners for the concessions now include Chile Wireless, MIC Chile and Telmex; licences are due to be awarded on 15 September.
