Easynet to take advantage of Ofcom’s LLU support

4 Jul 2005

The recent decision by UK regulator Ofcom to throw its weight behind speeding up local loop unbundling (LLU) has prompted alternative wireline operator Easynet to announce an ambitious new expansion plan. Easynet says it will extend its local loop footprint by up to 100 exchanges during the next twelve months, bringing its total up to 350 exchanges covering approximately 5.8 million households and 850,000 businesses. Much of the expansion will be used to support Easynet’s recently launched consumer broadband service UK Online, which currently boasts around 10,000 users.
