SFR, Bouygues agree Wi-Fi roaming

29 Jun 2005

The French mobile operators SFR and Bouygues Telecom have signed a deal to link their respective public access wireless LAN networks. The two firms currently have around 400 Wi-Fi hotspots between them and the new accord allows customers to use WLAN services at locations operated by either company. Coverage includes hotel chains such as Best Western and Exclusive Hotels, several airports and a wide-area network at Paris’ La Défense business quarter. France’s largest Wi-Fi operator, Orange, claims more than 6,500 hotspots nationwide.
