Post paid customers grow 5.7% in Q1

Brazil’s mobile operators have seen the number of post paid clients grow by 5.7% to around 14 million in the first quarter of 2005, higher than the 4.4% rise in the prepaid segment. The total number of mobile subscribers in the country stood at 73.7 million at the end of May 2005, with post paid customers accounting for 19% of this figure. With the number of post paid customers on the increase, mobile operators have seen ARPU rising; Vivo achieved average ARPU of BRL77 (USD32.55) from its post-paid clients in Q1, compared to the prepaid average of BRL16.
