According to recent research, around 40% of the South Korean population are either already seriously addicted to the internet, or at risk of becoming addicted. Around 75% of Korean households have broadband connection, and the use of mobile internet services is on the increase.The majority of internet users – around 95.9% – are aged between seven and 19, and are attracted to the internet because of virtual communities and online games, as well as email and web browsing. The government has said it will launch a major study into the social effects of technological change.
