Dishnet launches Wi-Fi

28 Jun 2005

Indian operator Dishnet Wireless has launched a Wi-Fi service in Calcutta under the brand name Red Dishnet, as part of a national campaign to become the country’s dominant Wi-Fi provider. In its first rollout phase it plans to launch the service in eight cities, eventually expanding this to 38 cities, amounting to around 6,000 hotspots across the country. Calcutta currently has around 60 public W-LAN access points; Dishnet hopes to roll out at least 200 new hotspots in the city by the end of 2005.
