Pay-TV operator TVA has launched its new voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephone service for residential customers. The new service, branded Vox, is being offered in collaboration with phone carrier Primeira Escolha, using technology developed by US-based Net2Phone. TVA hopes to sign up 3,000 residential subscribers to the service by the end of 2005. It currently has 1,000 business customers using VoIP, a figure it hopes to see double by the same date. TVA also claims 293,000 pay-TV subscribers and 35,000 broadband customers.
