eircom, Ireland’s dominant telecoms company, has launched a new, capped high speed internet package as part of its plans to get more people upgrading to broadband. eircom Broadband Time charges users EUR24.99 a month for 20 hours of use, with additional usage charged at EUR0.04 per minute. eircom has yet to confirm what speeds the Broadband Time connection will reach. Customers who sign up to the service on a six-month contract before September will receive a EUR5 discount on their monthly bill, though this still makes the service just EUR10 less than eircom’s cheapest ‘always on’ 1Mbps service, which is being offered at a discount EUR29.99 during the same period.
