According to Neil Montefiore, chief executive of MobileOne (M1), his company is hoping to have signed up 20,000 3G subscribers by the end of the year, representing around 2% of its total subscriber base. At the end of March 2005 the telco had 1.2 million subscribers, 1,500 of which were connected to the 3G service. M1 predicts that 50% of its base will be using the 3G network within five years. SingTel is currently leading the 3G market in Singapore with close to 20,000 subscribers. SingTel and M1 both launched their 3G services in February, while StarHub started offering 3G in April.
