16 Jun 2005

The German arm of UK-based wireless internet service provider (WISP) The Cloud and mobile operator Vodafone Germany have announced a strategic partnership whereby Vodafone users will be able to use the former’s network of around a thousand WiFi hotspots from the beginning of next month. The service is intended to complement Vodafone’s existing 3G mobile data platform, currently covering around 700 towns and cities. The Cloud has revealed plans to extend its W-LAN network to around ten thousand hotspots nationwide; in April this year it became Germany’s third largest WISP by acquiring competitor Airnyx.
