Belgian internet use still rising, but growth rate is slowing

16 Jun 2005

New studies by ISPA, the Belgian ISP association, and InSites Consulting have found that some 53% of Belgians, or around 4.5 million, use the internet on a monthly basis. Of that figure 86% have a connection at home, representing 1.68 million households with web access, an 8% increase over the past year. However, the reports also show that the total number of connections rose by only 2% in the first quarter of 2005, a slight year-on-year slowdown. In the same quarter, the number of dial-up accounts was seen to drop by 11%, whereas the number of broadband lines grew by 6%.
