Sonofon launches ‘home zone’ free call service

Danish cellco Sonofon has announced it is launching a new service that offers free calls to fixed networks when the handset user is phoning from their home. The ‘Fri Zone’ service includes a feature whereby a mobile phone automatically registers when it is within a ‘home zone’, and automatically switches back to standard call rates when it is taken out of the home. According to a recent Gallup poll, 45% of Danes are prepared to cancel their fixed line services as soon as a financially comparable alternative is available to them.
