The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has agreed to loan Greek-owned wireless operator Unitel USD30 million to expand its network. The bank, which owns a 7% stake in the wireless operator, states the money will be used to make communications services more widely accessible and will include the introduction of a pre-paid service, currently unavailable in the country. At the end of May Unitel claimed 106,000 customers, giving it a 25% market share.
