Anatel approves interconnection agreement

10 Jun 2005

Anatel has approved an interconnection fee agreement allowing certain operators to make adjustments to interconnection fees themselves, without having to ask it first. Under the new ruling, operators which do not wish to set their own fees are still allowed to continue negotiating the agreements through Anatel. The move is the first time the regulator has allowed an interconnection hike that is not valid for all operators. The first change will be a 4.5% hike in the fee paid to mobile operators for receiving calls from fixed line telcos.
