VTR triple play expansion rolls on

Chilean cable operator VTR GlobalCom has extended triple play services to three of the seven new cities it plans to cover this year, increasing its total coverage to 16 cities, according to BNamericas. As part of a USD500 million, five-year expansion programme, it intends to achieve a total subscriber base of 1.55 million by the end of 2005, including 800,000 cable TV viewers, over 400,000 voice telephony subscribers and 350,000 broadband internet users, by expanding its network to 200,000 new households. By 2010 it aims to provide triple play services to two million homes nationwide. VTR currently claims a total of 1.34 million customers, representing 750,000 cable TV subscribers, 360,000 telephone lines and 235,000 broadband connections; over 50% of its subscribers use two or more services.
