German fixed line operator Arcor increased its revenues by 14% to EUR1.604 billion in fiscal 2004/05, attributing the growth to galloping broadband sales figures. Its DSL subscriber base grew from 169,000 to 510,000 in the twelve months to 31 March 2005. Of the total, 455,000 are connected to the company’s own DSL network and 55,000 are resale customers. Arcor invested EUR163 million in expanding the network during the year; it has revealed plans to add 60 more local switches in fiscal 2005/06.
Arcor launched services over its own network in Stuttgart at the end of 1998, under the name Mannesmann Arcor, and was Deutsche Telekom’s first competitor.
