Vodafone KK users drop again

7 Jun 2005

Japan’s third largest cellco Vodafone KK has reported that it lost 39,900 users in April, marking its fifth month of decline, and lowering its total number of users to 14.96 million. The operator signed up 114,400 new 3G subscribers during the month, but this was outweighed by a loss of 154,300 2G customers.

The cellco said it planned to raise CAPEX by 50% to USD2.4 billion in the year to the end of March, in a bid to improve its networks and bolster its struggling 3G service. It hopes to build 5,400 antenna base stations in the year.
