Cyber Access to continue with 3G investment

1 Jun 2005

Indonesian cellco Cyber Access Communications has said it will continue with its investment plan for 3G services, despite suggestions that the government might revoke its licence and re-tender. Cyber Access won its 3G concession in 2003 via a tender process, but suffered cash flow problems, leading the government to threaten to take its licence away. The cellco claims to have already invested around USD50 million in its operations, and has begun rolling out a trial 3G network in the Jakarta area serving around 700 customers.
