WWI sues government/Mobitel for lack of competition

31 May 2005

Slovenian cellco Western Wireless International Slovenia, which operates under the banner Vega, has sued the government and state-owned mobile operator Mobitel for SIT48.8 billion (USD254.6 million) for failing to allow fair competition in the country’s mobile market. The operator complained that despite spending over USD200 million in its Slovenian operations it has only been able to gain a market share of around 2%, claiming that the government had displayed anti-competitive behaviour and failed to reduce Mobitel’s control of the market.
