Econet wants KES75 billion from Tuju

In the most recent development in the case between Econet Wireless Kenya and Communications Minister Raphael Tuju, the operator has said it wants Tuju to pay it KES75 billion in compensation for ‘injury to the Econet Wireless trademark’ in a civil suit filed at the Nairobi Milimani Commercial courts yesterday.

In a separate story, Kenyan cellco Safaricom has launched a MMS service for its post-paid customers, the first of its kind in the country. The cellco recently acquired a KES2.4 billion intelligent network platform to enable it to launch the service.
