27 May 2005

Spain’s dominant telco Telefónica has revealed that it will start doubling its ADSL speeds from 26 July. The company is increasing end-user speeds free of charge for the second time in twelve months. Customers who currently subscribe to the basic 512kbps service will have their download speed increased to 1Mbps, with upload speeds rising to 300kbps. Advanced service users will see speeds rise from 2Mbps to 4Mbps, while Premium customers will have speeds increased from 4Mbps to 8Mbps. The whole upgrade process is expected to take twelve weeks, ending in October.
