OTE makes peace with unions

27 May 2005

Greek incumbent Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) says it has reached an agreement with its labour unions on the terms of hiring new staff for the company’s fixed line division, ending the threat of industrial action. Disagreement over the terms had hindered implementation of the voluntary redundancy plan intended to cut around a third of OTE’s 17,000 strong workforce. The agreement will see all new staff governed by standard private sector employment contracts.
