Taiwan Mobile begins full service trials over 3G network

25 May 2005

Taiwan Mobile – known as Taiwan Cellular Corp (TCC) until a recent rebranding – has begun full service trials of its W-CDMA offering ‘Catch3! Catch your eyes!’. The cellco is conducting trials of the service in tandem with its exclusive 3G infrastructure vendor Nokia. Last month Taiwan Mobile announced the establishment of a Partner Forum and a Service Delivery & Management Platform (SDMP) for cooperation with partners and local providers of digital content. The SDMP is a friendly environment for providers to develop content to be delivered via Taiwan Mobile’s 3G and existing 2.5G systems. Taiwan’s five 3G licensees – Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Yuan-Ze Telecom (Far EasTone), Asia Pacific Broadband Wireless (APBW) and Vibo Telecom – have until 24 September to launch commercial services.
