OTE has a grumble

20 May 2005

Greek incumbent Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) has said it will clamp down on alternative operators that continue to default on payment for use of its network. OTE says that it is owed EUR75 million from its rivals and was forced to transfer EUR17 million to bad debt accounts last year, with a further EUR19 million set to be moved across in 2005. OTE is particularly bitter after it emerged that it had lost around 25% of its market share since opening its network to rivals.
