Telekom Austria has posted a 63.6% year-on-year rise in first-quarter net profits to EUR115.7 million. Group revenues were up 1.4% on the same period last year to just over EUR1 billion, with a rise in sales of broadband and mobile products offsetting a fall in traditional fixed telephony services. The telco’s net debt fell EUR77.1 million in the first three months of 2005 and now stands at EUR1.9 billion. The number of ADSL subscribers increased 96.3% on the March 2004 figure to 443,900, including 94,900 wholesale customers. The subscriber base of Telekom’s wholly-owned cellular unit Mobilkom saw annual growth of 4.3% to reach 4.98 million by the end of March.
