Mobile users to pass ten million this year, says regulator

Venezuelan regulator Conatel says that it expects the nation’s mobile operators to end 2005 with a combined ten million customers, equal to a penetration rate of 38%. Conatel says that more than 350,000 new users signed up in the first quarter, pushing the total number of subscribers past 8.8 million. The regulator also said it expects to see 10% growth in fixed lines, up to 3.7 million by year end.
