18 May 2005

Argentine electricity supplier Transener has applied for a telecoms licence and revealed plans to lease fibre-optic capacity to Mexican-owned sister companies CTI Móvil and Telmex Argentina. If the regulator approves its licence, Transener, owned by Petrobaras Energia and local investment fund Dolphin, intends to operate in Argentina as both a carrrier’s carrier and fixed line service provider.
