NTC fines OTE over ADSL

16 May 2005

The Greek National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has fined Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) EUR300,000 for breaching competition rules in selling its broadband services. Subscribers to OTE’s high speed internet service are required to buy a modem from the telco, a policy which the NTC says contravenes competition rules. OTE started the year with around 44,000 ADSL users and hopes to triple that number by the end of 2005.
