Malaysian GSM market leader Maxis Mobile says that it plans to invest USD53 million in two years in expanding its network coverage in east Malaysia. The company plans to cover 76% of Sabah’s populated areas and around 70% of Sarawak’s by the end of 2006. It hopes that the improved coverage in the eastern regions will drive a significant increase in the take-up of value-added services, including GPRS, mobile devices such as the Blackberry, corporate SMS packages and cellular push-to-talk (POC) services.
