Colombian telco Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) says it will concentrate on expanding internet access services in Cartagena and Barranquilla, both cities that it considers key to its operations. EPM, which recently launched broadband services in Cartagena, currently has around 9,000 internet subscribers in the two cities and expects the figure to at least double in the next two years. Last week EPM announced that it is to hold a series of public hearings regarding its plan to restructure itself by separating its telecoms division from its other utility services – electricity, water and sewerage.
