Swisscom reports rising profits on falling turnover

Swisscom has posted first quarter revenues of CHF2.45 billion (EUR1.59 billion), down 1.7% year-on-year. EBITDA also fell 2.7% to CHF1.09 billion, but net profit rose 6.6% to CHF613 million, from CHF575 million a year earlier. It reported a total of 878,000 ADSL customers at the end of March, up 47% from 596,000, and 3.98 million mobile subscribers, an increase of 3.8%. Fixed line division Swisscom Fixnet reported that retail traffic revenues were down 12% to CHF294 million, with wholesale revenues down 11.9% to CHF148 million, whilst Swisscom Mobil’s turnover rose 1.5% to CHF901 million.
