The cost of mobile phones in Jamaica has almost doubled in the two months since the country’s two biggest operators, Cable & Wireless and Digicel, stopped subsidising their handsets, according to The Jamaica Observer. The average price of handsets has now risen to USD65, up from USD41 in March. The two operators account for around 95% of Jamaica’s mobile subscribers.
