Mobile phone users in Chile made calls amounting to 904 million minutes during the first quarter of 2005, up 21% from 745 million minutes in 1Q 2004, according to BNamericas. The number of mobile calls was up 23% to 702 million, compared to 569 million a year before. Meanwhile the total volume of fixed line calls decreased 2.5% to 538 million, with the number of long-distance calls falling by 10% to 66 million. However, international wireline calls rose slightly by 0.3% to 4.4 million.
