Iceland Telecom has signed a contract with Alcatel for the upgrade of its DSL network to help cater for increased demand for triple play services, including IPTV, and ensure continuity as it expands its broadband business. Iceland Telecom launched IPTV in March and claims to have enjoyed early success, with thousands of TV subscribers on a waiting list for an upgrade. Under the deal, Alcatel will deploy its IP-based 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) broadband platform and DSL 5530 Network Analyser software diagnostic tool.
