ACCC trying to split up Telstra

12 May 2005

Telstra has accused the regulator the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) of trying to split its wholesale and retail operations into completely separate operating units. The ACCC denies the charge, saying that ‘under the proposal, Telstra’s wholesale and retail arms would remain under one owner, but there would be a clear internal separation between retail and wholesale services’. Telstra claims that the move is simply structural separation under another name.
