EUR120 million bid for Albetelecom

9 May 2005

A consortium headed by Turkish energy group Cealik Energi Telecomunication has tabled a bid of EUR120 million for Albanian fixed line company Albetelecom. The consortium was the only party to make an offer for the 76% stake in the telco being sold by the government. A number of other companies showed an initial interest, amongst them Telecom Slovenia and SK Telecom, but stopped short of entering the bidding process.
