Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited (HTIL) has released key performance indicators for its mobile units for the first quarter ended 31 March 2005. The company’s overall wireless subscriber base grew by 6% in the quarter, reaching 13.3 million, up from 9.9 million twelve months previously. Of the total, operations in India made the largest contribution (Hutchison Telecommunications, 7.8 million), followed by Israel (Partner Communications, 2.4 million), Hong Kong (Hutchison Telephone Company, 2.2 million), Thailand (Hutchison CAT Wireless, 662,000) and the remainder (Sri Lanka, Macau, Ghana, Paraguay, 293,000). The company confirmed that Partner’s capital expenditure guidance for 2005 is HKD1.0 billion, while that of HTIL is expected to be in the region of HKD5.5 billion to HKD6.0 billion. In a separate but related development, HTIL has rejected the demand by the minority shareholders of Hutchison Global Communications (a fixed line operator in Hong Kong) to raise its offer price for their shares.
