StarHub leapfrogs M1 to take second spot

5 May 2005

Singaporean mobile operator StarHub has overtaken its rival MobileOne (M1) to take second spot in the intensely competitive wireless market, albeit with a slender lead of around 36,700 subscribers. It is the first time that StarHub has held the position since it launched commercially in 2000. As of 31 March 2005, StarHub had an estimated market share of 30.8%, ahead of M1 with 29.9%; SingTel leads the market with 39.3%. StarHub has eclipsed its rival thanks to an aggressive pricing strategy and a successful branding campaign that has increased its profile among the general public.
