Triple-play given thumbs up

29 Apr 2005

Spain’s dominant fixed line operator Telefónica has been given the go-ahead by the country’s telecoms regulator to launch a ‘triple-play’ package which combines voice telephony, broadband internet and multi-channel TV services over traditional copper lines. Regulatory body the CMT has now ruled that the telco’s Imagenio triple-play service does not harm competition, overturning its decision from January this year which ordered Telefónica to stop marketing the product. Imagenio currently has around 30,000 customers and the operator is aiming to increase this to 200,000 by the end of the year.
