ZTE to extend rural network

28 Apr 2005

The Nigerian and Chinese presidents Hu Jingtao and Olusegun Obasanjo were both in attendance as ZTE Corporation yesterday signed a USD95 million contract with the Nigerian government for the rollout of the second phase of a rural communications project in the country. ZTE will supply and construct a telephony network covering Nigeria’s remaining 225 local government regions. The deal follows a similar contract between the two where ZTE provided connections to 110 of Nigeria’s more remote regions in 2004.
