Regulator looks to split Telstra

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has announced plans to slash Telstra’s market power before its AUD35 billion privatisation takes place. The regulator is looking to split the company’s operations into a retail business and a network business, which will enable it to regulate competition in the market more effectively. Telstra has given a cool reception to the separation plans.
